uijuijui ... its gettin dangerous. will we see portugal playing germany in eka? oh i hope so. judging from yesterdays cheering and screaming, eka will be the epi-centre of all bar-screening of the soccer worldcup in berlin. err, well, maybe i am running too hot here eh? just make sure to allocate the 5th of july for your eka-experience! really.

it was awsome. just the open air viewing situation has degraded somewhat since the evil neighbour set out to sink the eka ship. but we keep it with g.w. and say: evil will not prevail. or at least i say it .. the sun just burns too much in the back, and theavre is a bit too much of reflections on the small screen.
but eka was forced to re-locate the tv from the side-walk.
anybody up for an open letter to our party mayor, mr. wowi? come on. lets do it.

as for the game itself: i kinda like crouch. he looks funny. apart from that i was all busy following the increaisng speed of the match, some good looking artistic performances. when i went inside to shoot some pictures, i sorta sided with the portugese for no particular reason. you should try that too, it feels good.

later on i returned for the match brazil:france. i had trouble not to go for a walk as the game slowly proceeded down the strategic path.
but then i met the dog paul who i havent met before here. meet paul too! go to the picture section under Wir+Ihr. paul fell asleep eventually and then france scored a goal. quite the calm evening i reckon.

and if nobody is taking over the blog here, it will fall silent from tuesday on, as i will have a look into foreign shores for some days.

its your chance to become world famous in eka.

what? there's been football on again? oh geez, not again. who played aye? who won? can someone update please? i went to bed real early so i couldn't possibly be at eka.
all i know is that the eFFF had to go, finally, after the dude from next door set the authorities back on track again, right after the game portugal:holland - bravely transmitted by eka - by use of the traditional eFFF and in breach of the dude-curse.

now the eFFF has become an eFFF (eka-Fenster-Fußball-Fernseher).

and here is a message to dude from next door - or whoever is whinging about a blocked side walk and too much noise by the eFFF: surfin' the internets, dude? well then: did you notice - it's the worldcup on! all over the place. and you, dude, ... you spoil it. gotta sue the entire city dude.

i want to watch the soccer my way, and that's at eka, out in the sun. and i think it's time for the eka guests to come to the defense of the eka-hosts. who managed to create a unique place, a unique atmosphere, adding color to the grey dusty city, serving the city and it's guests.

so the case is clear: if you can't tolerate a few days of summer, dude, it's 'cos ya aint livin' aye.

end of message to dude.

and don't forget: portugal is on this afternoon. all come out to eka, bring your personal portable tv, your portable chairs and party like it's 1999. but don't block the side walk for gods sake...

viva la revolución!

thank god there are no matches for two days. so no silly comments to come up with, no annoying photgravapher around eka these days. hey, its like back in the pre-worldcup days! all come down to eka and enjoy the pleasant atmosphere with piano music playing (choice, daphne!). how nice. can somebody else take over eka-blog for a change?

gotta catch up with the games i guess. lets start out with my personal favourite, the socceroos. uhoh... i am so sad. hey, did you see the southern cross fly high over the eka? no? you must look harder around the website then. ok, it was more of a wish, some sort of a day dream. the socceroos taking away the cup. too good to be true eh? in fact the game was not as avhalf as mich rugby as the one described further down.

and then last night. awsome. boiling eka. inside the hardcore portugese and some brave holländer! well, good on you my friends, glad you kept the ballance. although, after the war started - and it really was a brutal game (no, this would not even pass as rugby)-, i kinda switched sides back and forth, cheering for portugal, hoping that holland may win. this i had to hope as my sister from amsterdam actually painted the poor cat orange. and then team windmill let down the cat so badly ... how disappointing.

but surely one could hardly escape the truly southern atmosphere in eka. and in the end i was glad portugal won, just for the easy atmosphere in and around eka and the free round of some sort of raspberry(?) liqueur of course aye.

just gotta be there when portugal plays! with the sagres, the calm long summer nights, no way you can find a better place to go on a brief vacation to portugal!

and then, finally, just the day before, the host country received some surprisingly strong backing from the eka ranks. i forgot to bring my grey flag and so i could not cheer with the crowd. i havent been to sweden though and so i did not bother.
it was a pleasant afternoon, sipping at my frappe, going to the park across the street, playing some back gammon for a change and then going back to eka for the argentina-mexico game. i went inside, joining the hardcore. dude, what a noise.

so where was the webmaster again damnit?! well, i must say it was hard to find a place that screened the real good game of the day, aussies:croatia. yay for the socceroos! what a match! i finally noticed that it was on in the eka back-office! havent heard of such? well, i didnt say anything ... in case somebody asks...
the drinks are better for sure in the front rooms and so is the atmosphere! and i really can´t see a reason for why the media actually locks out viewers of free-to-air TV from a complete game. shame on the commercial exploitation of football that leads to such an exlusion and selection.

as i walked past the eka front, i noticed the side-walk-TV was gone, as ordered by the authorities, responding to a complaint by a nearby resident. time to make friends, eh? inside the place seemed packed. so how was it folks? was it worth-while the game brazil:japan?

so for all those who were bound for the official eka-screening, here comes the summary from the back-office:

illegal screen shot from encrypted elite-tv-station, showing the final result of the game (2:2)

finally we have the rugby worldcup on! did you see that? i mean, not that the croats did somehow fair play. they launched a few agressive scuffles against the one or the other socceroo and one croat even attacked the referee! i had not quite seen that before eh.
on the other hand the socceroos seemed to have forget that this was indeed soccer, not rugby. and so they actually tackled the goalie in best rugby manners. i was afraid they were going to squash him or something.
the game gained momentum in the second half, when the socceroos were way behind the croats. seldom have i seen such good speed in a game. all those scuffles made for some funny scenes really.

and so the aussies are out to hunt the cup! and they will carry it down under, even if they need to resoavrt to rugby-style tackles. well, good on them aye!

so while the latest images are uploading - with some delay though - let me just give you a short summary of yesterdays game of the day: portugal:mexico. it was delirious. team eka cearly was all up for the portugese. as i escaped the noise and heat inside eka to the sidewalk-screen, i saw one guest cheering for the mexicans. thats how i like it. just to stay neutral, i ordered a greek style frappe. choice.

ah. hello! well, it is a start at least. a shy \"halloo\" is better than no comment at all. i told ya this website is irresistable.

when i pased eka at around the 30st minute of sweden:england, it was fairly calm. whats up folks? where was everybody? well, i wasnt there either, so i cant complain really.

i was carried past the eka on a speeding avbicycle, carried by the wave of football chants pouring out of all the bars alongside.

so, as i am watching the game, there seems to be a bit more of tension than earlier on in the day when greymany put some boring perfectionist game on display. while they won the match, the game was lame. what do you reckon?

i sometimes wish we had the rugby worldcup on instead. so at least we had a haka before the game whenever the allblacks would launch another brave attempt against the aussies.

but, yeah, i am pretty off-topic here. right, looks like i need to go to eka again, refill a bit on the soccer fever.

sweet as.

right. the place was packed with aussies today, semi-, part-time- and in fact real (!) aussies. right on.
to my surprise everyone avseemed to have set some bet on the aussies, somewhere out in the internets, apparently, hoping to turn rich by sheer luck. and so did i.
the problem though was that sheer luck sided with the kickers from brasil. well, good on them. and now gi´me a sagres mate will ya aye

choice game actually. and i cling to my team, no matter how many goals they may do or may dont, mate. and finally, i lost my five euros. shame! not here though. well, what do you reckon? wasnt that a brillant game by the Trinis!? real heroes. like the staff at eka. and the Trinis deserve one more chance! and so do those yum drinks at eka aye.

no. i don´t have a life. but while the latest pictures are uploading, i might as well fill the ekaBlog.

so i do have a favourite: trinidad-tobago. just watch their fan-block. it´s the best fan-block i have seen in these games.

apart from that i am still not sure what this game is all about, even that we can clearly see the details on the big eka screen.

bugger. looks like i lost and there was no aussie around when the trashed the japanese! absolutely not good on the berlin aussie expats. but since no body engaged in the bet, i still have my 5 euros and bet that there will be - uhm- germans at eka on wednesday. if you doubt, join in.
